A new wing has been added recently to the Museum of Asian Art in the town of Corfu. It houses the collection of the greek ambassador N. Hadjivassiliou. The Collection contains 450 objects of art from Japan, India, Nepal, Thibet, Thailand and Korea. Another big collection of the same Museum is the olderCollection of the ambassador Gr. Manos, which contains 10.000 objects from Japan and China.The first room of the new wing contains screens from Japan and indian statuettes. The second, bronze statuettes from Nepal and Thibet, Thankas from Thibet and seventeen splendid stone reliefs from Gandhara ( India ), which show a deep hellenistic influence (figs. 1-2). The third room contains a series of bronze indian statuettes, two stone heads of the art of Khmer, a stone relieffrom Koushan and two pieces of woven stuff from Japan. In the last room are exhibited screens from Korea, bronze statuettes from Thailand and wooden reliefs form India.
