Abstract:
During work on the construction of a wa- termain 1 km north of Axioupolis, in 1988, two bronze amulets were found and handed over to the Kilkis Museum. The amulets have bodies shaped like anchors, and their ends terminate in stylized birds. They were made by the “cire perdue” method. They belong to the “Geugelijska grupa”, which includes the rest of the amulets from the same region and they are dated to the 7th c. BC. The attribution of the group to a particular nationality is an interesting aspect of the study of the finds, but what is needed, before any speculation, is systematic excavation in Macedonia, which continues to remain “dark” in this period.
