The Modern Greek language exhibits in some cases the same form of the verb for the 3rd person singular and the 3rd person plural. This should not be regarded as a mere coincidence, but rather as an indication of the fact that the 3rd person, be it sg. or pl., is of the same quality, whereas the 1st and 2nd person plural have a special feature (complexity) that makes them persons in their own right, and not mere plurals of the corresponding singulars. It would, therefore, be justified to establish five persons: three simple ones (1, 2,3) and two complex ones (4= 1 + 3, 5 : 2 + 3).
