Evidence of early minoan occupation at Nopigeia Kisamou

Abstract:
During a rescue excavation near the village of Nopigeia Kissamou, the remains of an Early Minoan settlement came to light, including building remains, a child burial in ajar, and a large quantity of Early Minoan pottery, which dates to the EM IIA period. The EM pottery from the settlement at Nopigeia recalls the pottery from the West Court house and from the Royal Road at Knossos, from phase 1 at Myrtos, from Debla, etc.The excavation evidence points to the exchange of ideas with the Cyclades, mainland Greece and the Aegean in general. The new material confirms relations between Crete and mainland Greece, by way of Kythera.
