Abstract:
Some Middle Byzantine off-white marble sculptures in the Ypati Museum were part of the sculpted decoration of the church of the Transfiguration of Alepospita, Lamia. This assemblage comprises four truncated pyramidal dosserets of window mullions, five fragments from one luxurious bevelled doorframe, four fragments of another doorframe, one large part of a templon-screen epistyle, and one two-sided closure slab. These sculptures are consistent with the artistic trend current in central and southern Greece during the second half of the twelfth and the early thirteenth century. The closure slab alone is earlier.
